Who we are
Shelly and I are an experienced and still learning, loving marriage partnership!

We enjoy family, friends, watching movies, taking pictures, our boat, travel, and wilderness and generally look forward positively to what is ahead.

Combined we have a working knowledge of many different industries from the time served in them.

Our last project was assisting with the completion of the Golden Ears Bridge. Since then Shelly has started a small business; Inspired Nail Art go there to find out about the fun. Bert has retired but still does marine and other mechanical or welding jobs for friends and other people just contact him if interested.

Between 1998 and 2010 our home was in the custom built, truck/trailer combination (pictured top right). That means we have been free and mobile. Subsequently we have seen much of the northwest during work and play. You could say we have driven ourselves to retirement.

Our Dream of Retirement Adventure
We are dedicated to our dreams of retirement adventure and have lived aboard the BC Maid since September 2010.

The B.C. Maid is a retired 56'6" or 15.85m wooden seine boat. She was originally built in Steveston B.C. in 1926 by Yasujiro Nakade and due to constant maintenance is still sound. We spent years converting her to a live aboard houseboat. We are close to utilizing her to experience an ongoing adventure along the awesome British Columbia coast.

You Can Share in the Adventure
The B.C. Maid completion and coastal adventure process will be ongoing until we can no longer do it due to health or passing.

We publish a Chronicle of the B.C. Maid. She's pictured to the right of this page with a link to those.

As the B.C. Maid was built in 1926 she has lots of costal history. We would love to gather her history and post it on the site. So, if you have any stories about her or know anyone that has, please contact us with the details.

Share in the B.C. Coast Exploits
So, how could you share the coast? Well, we intend to post a blog about our exploits along with the BC Maid chronicles. If you are interested in adventure such as this you could follow us here! If you want to be notified when we post new stories contact us with your request.

Virtual Truck Tour
We have put together a virtual tour of our truck/trailer rig in Virtual Tours so you can have a quick look. This rig will possibly be for sale in years to come; in the mean time we're still using it as our home and construction base. There's more information on the rig in the about us section.
